senator john kerry to replace clinton as secretary of state in an overwhelming vote of 94 to 3. clinton was having an interactive online interview. as she heads out the door, she is leading -- leaving a legacy the most traveled secretary of state in history. more 950,000 miles, visited 112 countries and held 1700 meetings with world leaders. next up for the president today. he is talking immigration reform at 3:55 and 4:15. yesterday, obama unveiled his new immigration proposal for the country and urged congress to act quickly on immigration reforming the nation's laws. the president said his biggest failure in his first term was not accomplishing comprehensive immigration reform. this will term, he wants to see a quick path to citizenship for many of the country's 11 million illegal immigrants. lawmakers will have the senate's plan to consider which a bi-partisan group released on monday. in many aspects, they were similar. the senate's would call for tougher border control before granting citizenship to immigrants already in the country. more bill press i

the second-term agenda? our chief national correspondent john king is here with answer a. can the president deliver? >> today, no, this is not only a chance to deliver but how he will conduct himself. you see people listen, inside washington they don't have the votes. let's listen to what dana talked about, there are at least 11 senate democratic seats, some say 11, some say 13, but these 11 seats now held by democrats, many of them are gun-right states and many have incumbents who say no, mr. president, or i won't go as far as you say. the president has a problem in his party, the republicans are just standing back, they're saying if you can prove you get the votes with the democrats we'll look at these things. but the expectation is that the senate will go first, house speaker john boehner and his staff will say we'll look at them in committee hearings but wouldn't act unless the senate passes something. they think the best the president can get today is something significantly watered down. maybe a water-down version of his background checks, maybe the assault weapons ban, today, it woul

ramsey. the case remains unsolved and now reports say a grand jury had voted to indict john and patsy ramsey. but the district attorney refused to sign the indictment, believing he could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. an attorney for john ramsey says indicting him would have been a gross miscarriage of justice. >> this case was so huge back then. fascinating to learn that both parents were indicted. the legal question is, did the d.a. have a legal obligation to sign it under colorado law? because some analysts are saying he should have signed it and moved to dismiss the charges in open court. >> that's remarkable. i don't think i've ever heard of that. typically, what d.a.'s want to do is they want the grand jury to decide. because then the decision is not on you as the district attorney, it's on the people of the grand jury. it is like the tribe has spoken. so if you have a grand jury indictment, then even if you don't prove your case, you still have done your job. it's remarkable to me that you would get that indictment yet not sign it. >> it was such a high profile c

of this is the president just nominated john brener top counterterrorism adviser to be head of the cia and brennan in a lot of ways has been the guy on drones. he is at the center of the drone policy so on the one hand you are getting a lot of pushback from the left from people opposed to drone use about his nomination. on the other hand, the reporting is from "the washington post" and other places that he actually has been a huge voice of restraint and a voice advocating for moving that program from the cia to the military according to a recent post article. they said that brennan is leading efforts to curtail the cia's primary responsibility for targeting killings over opposition of the agency arguing to focus on intelligence agencies and leave lethal action to the more traditional home in the military where the law requires greater transparency. so, if john brennan is confirmed, it is interesting to see if there's a move to greater transparency and to moving the program from the cia to the military. >> absolutely, yeah. all right. >>> shifting gears a bit here up next the
